EMUiNVENT is an innovative joint program initiated by the GameAbove College of Business, the College of Engineering, and the College of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). This program aims to equip school students with interdisciplinary skills while introducing them to the intricate process of real-world problem-solving, which demands a comprehensive understanding of business, engineering, technology, science, and communication. By engaging in a seven-step invention process, students work collaboratively in diverse teams, guided by professors, teachers, scientists, and entrepreneurs. EMUiNVENT empowers students to identify problems, develop solutions, and effectively communicate their findings, fostering personal growth and cultivating a team-oriented mindset.

Interdisciplinary Innovation Process

Process The EMUiNVENT program strongly emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, recognizing that the challenges of the modern world require a holistic approach. Through their involvement in the program, students gain exposure to various disciplines, enabling them to develop a well-rounded skill set. By bridging the gap between different fields, students learn to think critically and creatively, appreciating the importance of cross-pollination between domains. The collaborative environment encourages students to leverage their strengths, contributing to the success of the team as a whole. EMUiNVENT guides students through a comprehensive seven-step invention process, designed to nurture their problem-solving abilities. The process begins with identifying a problem, encouraging students to observe their surroundings and recognizing areas for improvement. Subsequently, students engage in research and analysis, exploring potential solutions and considering their feasibility. The program then encourages students to prototype and test their ideas, learning from failures and refining their concepts. Through iterative cycles of improvement, students eventually arrive at a viable solution. Finally, the program emphasizes the significance of effective communication, empowering students to convey their ideas clearly and persuasively.
